To fulfill our government contracts and due to our continued growth and with new model vehicles in production, we’re looking for skilled tradespeople with vehicle assembly and trimming skills to join our dedicated team.
Automobility is a leader in the manufacture of lowered floor wheelchair accessible vehicles. We require enthusiastic self motivated people to join our team on a full time basis. Duties and responsibilities:
Removal, storage and refitting of internal fixtures of vehicles including seats, carpets, head linings, plastic trims and other components.
Installation of various equipment needed by persons with a disability.
Some fabrication and design aspects associated with the tailoring of the vehicle to the particular client’s needs.
Fit mechanised equipment, such as winches, wheelchair restraints and hoists, to various types of vehicle chassis.
Use of various hand and power/air tools.
Work in a team of committed people.
Follow OH&S procedures and guide lines.
Ongoing training within the “lean” environment.
Adhere to our COVID safe protocols.
Inspection of work for quality as per inspection schedules.

Own Hand tools

The position reports to the production leading hand and is at our Montrose premises. Training and instruction provided.
Hours are day shift Monday to Thursday 7:00am to 3:30pm, Friday 7:00am to 1pm. Overtime is available.

Duties and responsibilities
Manufacture framework sections in metal, by working from engineering drawings, and by using fabrication machinery, all types of welding and cutting equipment.
Form complete frameworks by welding or bolting sections to the vehicle’s frame.
Fabricate panels used to cover the framework by cutting, forming and attaching panels of sheet metal, aluminium, stainless steel or reinforced plastic.
Fit axles, suspensions and brakes.
Fit mechanised equipment, such as winches and hoists, to various types of vehicle chassis.
Install door handles, locks and hinges.
Carry out design work and alterations in consultation with engineers, or alter assembly line vehicles to special requirements.
Follow OH&S procedures and guide lines.
Ongoing training within the “lean” environment.
Inspection of work for quality as per inspection schedules
